DIY Toddler Activity With A Kitchen Roll
This is a simple and fun DIY Toddler Activity requiring no more than up-scaling throw-away cardboard tubes. I had seen this one somewhere online and just managed to wait long enough to lay my hands on an empty kitchen roll. I tried this with my 14 month old today. Miss I had a fun-tastic morning practicing her fine motor skills.
Things To Begin
- Empty Kitchen Roll
- Sticky Tape
- Toys That Pass Through The Roll
- Empty Bowls
What to do
Secure the kitchen roll vertically on a surface with sticky tape. I used the door right outside my kitchen because I didn’t want house chores to consume me while my baby explored and experienced. This way, I could do it all!
Next I just brought out a bowl full of multi-coloured pom-poms and some ice-cream sticks (I am also currently exposing Miss I to sensory variations of soft and hard textures) from my son’s box of crafty things.
For the first few minutes she just kept transferring the pom-pomps from one bowl to the other. Once she got the feel of dunking them into the kitchen roll, watching them go in from one end and popping out from the other, we really didn’t know where she was for several minutes that followed! It turned out to be a great quiet time activity.
