10 TIPS TO KEEP MOMMY SANE!
I’m a mom and I feel I’m burning out!!
My husband say’s I’m always PMSing! Point in case!
So here’s what I’ve started doing about it!!
Tip #1 To Keep Mommy Sane
When the kids are in school, instead of jamming it full of organizing, errand running, or mopping (sshhhh) I sometimes just sit and watch Reality shows!
Tip #2 To Keep Mommy Sane
Feed the kids lunch 30 minutes earlier than normal, then turn on Minions, Daniel Tiger, and go to that part of that house, somewhere and eat your food. Alone. In silence. Try it. It’s awesome.
Tip #3 To Keep Mommy Sane
Keep a log of those fun or awesome things you do as a mom, for days when you don’t do anything particularly awesome. Laminate it and read it often.
Tip #4 To Keep Mommy Sane
This takes time. But it is so worth it!! Close your kids’ bedroom doors instead of looking at the mess. Bawhhaaa…………..
Tip #5 To Keep Mommy Sane
Get the kids off to school, and get back in bed once a week. Or if you have little ones still at home, settle them in front of their favorite show, and get back in bed.
Tip #6 To Keep Mommy Sane
Wear headphones while you’re cooking dinner or cleaning. Allow yourself to block out the other sounds…(Read Kids)
Tip #7 To Keep Mommy Sane
The day when you are all dressed up, the entire nine-yards with the make-up and jewellery, take a picture. Stick it where you see it often. Mine is up on the refrigerator!! This is a great reminder of when you are low about how you are more than sweat pants and unpainted nails.
Tip #8 To Keep Mommy Sane
Make a list of things you loved before becoming a mom. Do one of them once a week.
Tip #9 To Keep Mommy Sane
Wait for your husband. The minute he walks in, take the time for a nice hot, long, long shower!
Tip #10 To Keep Mommy Sane
Allow the older kids to take care of the younger kids. Then breathe. You’ve got 10 minutes before you will need to call a ‘cease-fire!’
The truth is, I’m typically awful at self-care, but I’m getting better. And letting go of the guilt feels good. What’s your little indulgence you do to stay sane?
